In the story, "The Old Man and The Sea", the old man seems to not only catch fish, but respect them. The quote, "With his mouth shut and his tail straight up and down we sail like brothers" shows his connection with the fish. They seem to be united. He refers to the fish as his brother in other parts of the story, too; such as on page 95, paragraph 1, in which he says, "But I have killed this fish which is my brother and now I must do the slave work." He thinks of the fish as his brothers, because he's been around them for so long, he shares a deep bond with them.
